Ingredients

200 gr. Surimi Sticks
2 heaped tbsp Mayonaise
1/2 tbsp Ketchup
1.5 tsp Sriracha you could replace the Sriracha with 1 tsp of Tabasco
1 tbsp Whiskey
1 tsp Paprika Powder if you like smokey tastes, replace with smoked paprika powder
1 tbsp Crystal Sugar

A nice, spicy and cheap version of the original Dutch crab salad!

This nice version of the original crab salad is one of my favourites as a quick appetizing snack. It is easy to make, not too expensive and you can make it in big portions so you can enjoy it later as well! It also stays good in the fridge for a few days. Nice for a quick spread on a sandwich, a quick bite or use it for an appetizer for a nice dinner! (maybe with some prawns?) Enjoy!

Preparation

We get all the ingredients together to make this quick dish as quick as possible!

The Surimi Salad

We start off by cutting the surimi sticks into small pieces and put your chopped up Surimi in a small bowl. Cut them as finely as you can to make the salad easier to spread.

Now we add the whiskey, paprika powder and sugar and stir everything to make the crab soak up the taste of the whiskey you use. Let it set for 2/3 minutes, this will enhance the flavour later!

Add the mayonaise, ketchup and sriracha to the Surimi and give it a good stir to mix all the ingredients together till you have a smooth but still a bit sturdy base. If your salad is a bit too runny, add a bit more mayonaise. Be sure to taste in between! If you think the salad can use a bit more spiciness, add a few drops of sriracha sauce, do this step by step till you have your perfect hotness!

You can enjoy this Spicy Surimi Salad on a piece of bread, toast, crackers or use it for a nice appetizer for a fancy dinner!
