2 Pears moist
2 Oranges juiced and zested
1/2 tbsp ground Cinnamon
2 tsp Honey
2 cups Water
50 gr Dark Chocolate
1 tsp Coconut Oil

Orange Poached Pears with Dark Chocolate Sauce

So the new year started! And we have new plans, new resolutions, new ambitions and a main focus: to become more healthy, to understand what we eat and to make better choices for ourselves and for our bodies. We start with small steps, looking around and getting rid of all the bad snacks that we love to have late in the evening. We cut down the sugar, ditch the sodas, lessen the oil and, the most important, meeting new recipes and new combinations.

We love pears and chocolate, such a rich combination that we usually serve at the end of a fancy dinner. Usually, we drench them in white wine, we cover them in sweet chocolate sauce and sprinkle them with walnuts. This time, for our new objective, we try a more healthy versions. Replace the wine with water and orange juice, pick a dark good chocolate and pump up the cinnamon. And let me tell you something, this new taste is just fantastic! More fruity, more vibrant and as delicious as the not so healthy version.

You will say, of course, if you want to lose weight and be healthy, just don’t eat dessert. True, don’t eat dessert every day, but don’t forget to give yourself a little treat from time to time. And this is almost free of guilt.

Peel the pears leaving the stem and core untouched, juice and zest the oranges and chop the chocolate finely. Bring the water, honey, cinnamon, orange juice and zest to a boil. Submerge the pears in the liquid, put the lid on and boil for 20 minutes.


Chocolate sauce

Melt your chocolate au bain-marie, slowly and mix until completely melted. Incorporate the coconut oil in and let it sit for 4-5 minutes. Remove the pears, divide the chocolate in half and pour over the fruit. Serve warm.
